What is a scan body?
A scan body is screwed onto the implant (or multi-unit abutment) during intraoral or model scanning. The CAD software reads its shape to calculate the exact position and orientation of the connection. In the EFF digital workflow, the scan body is step 1 and the Ti-base link is step 2 and last.
When to use it
- Screw-retained zirconia single crowns on a Ti-base.
- Bridges and full-arch cases on multi-unit abutments.
- Replacing conventional impressions with transfers.
- Lab model scanning for design in exocad or 3Shape.

Scan body FAQ
Implant scan body vs multi-unit scan body?
The implant scan body fits the implant connection and is used for single crowns on a Ti-base. The multi-unit version sits on the intermediate abutment for screw-retained bridges.
What material is the EFF scan body?
EFF intraoral scan bodies are made of PEEK, a stable polymer that scanners read accurately.
Is it compatible with my implant?
